Western Washington University got off to a poor start at the CSU Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, CA., yesterday shooting a 13-over 301 in the morning and 12-over 300 in round two to finish the day in eighth place.

As a Brit, the Open Championship will always be the major I want to win the most (okay, it's looking less and less likely as I near my 40s and my handicap nears the 20s), but I've known the Masters is a very special tournament since watching it for the first time in 1986 - not a bad initiation. A week after finishing fourth at the Western New Mexico University Invitational, the Vikings have finished fourth again, this time at the Grand Canyon University Spring Invitational, where they completed the three rounds on 17-over 881 -  ten strokes higher than winner Grand Canyon.
