Blog 359, 10/10/16 - Western Women Finish Fifth at St. Martin's

The WWU women's golf team finished fifth in its second event of the season - the St. Martin's Invitational at Olympia GCC, which heavy rain on Saturday shortened to just 27 holes. After a 39-over 327 in Friday's opening round, the Vikings shot 22-over 166 on Saturday morning to finish the event on +61 493 - 14 shots behind winner Simon Fraser University.
Sophomore Stephanie Sewell led the Vikings, shooting 80 in Friday's opening round then 39 for Saturday's nine holes. On ten-over 119, she finished in a tie for fourth individually. Jenn Paul tied for 12th on 123, while Audrey Orem tied for 19th on 125, Nicole Miller was T33 on 130, and Brooke Branigan was T35 on 131.
The University of British Columbia's Kat Kennedy won medallist honors on five-over 114.
The Vikings host the WWU Invitational today and tomorrow at Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
