Blog 297, 4/9/14 - Vikings Tie for Seventh at Mustang Invitational

crawfordHalfway through the spring season and it's clear Western Washington University isn't quite firing on all cylinders yet. After a tie for tenth at the St. Edwards Invitational in Texas at the beginning of March, and a fourth-place finish at the Cal Baptist Invitational four weeks ago, the Vikings added a tie for seventh at the Western New Mexico University Invitational in Goodyear, AZ yesterday.
WWU shot a final-round 298 (+10) on the 7,015-yard Palm Valley course, finishing the three rounds on 12-over 876 - 23 shots behind the host team which won the event by eight strokes over CSU-Stanislaus.
Senior Craig Crawford (right) was the Vikings' top performer shooting a stellar 66 in round two and eventually tieing for eighth on four-under 212. Mark Strickland tied for 19th on 217 posting a closing 73, Kyle Schrader tied for 57th on 224 alongside Brennan Emory, and Chris Hatch tied for 78th on 231.
Cal State Pueblo’s Alex Tiong and Colorado Mesa’s Colin Prater tied for medalist honors on eight-under 208, with Tiong winning the one-hole playoff.

Congratulations to Cam Frick who won this year's Winter Golf Tour at Lake Padden. Final table here.

seveLastly, today would have been Seve Ballesteros's 57th birthday. Just wanted to acknowledge the great man on the eve of the Masters which he won in such exciting fashion in 1980 and 1983.
(Click on the image for my all-time favorite Seve footage. Fantastica!)
