Western Washington finished 12th at the Golfweek Invitational on a tough 7,176-yard Crosswater Course at Sunriver, Ore. this week, shooting 950 (+86) for the three rounds, and coming in a distant 57 shots behind winner CSU Monterey Bay.
It was the second straight disappointing performance for the team ranked 14th in the Golf World/Nike Golf NCAA II Top 25 Poll, after it finished tied for eighth in its own Viking Invitational at the end of September.
Leading the Vikings was Mark Strickland who tied for 31st on 235 after struggling to an 81 in the final round. Kyle Schrader finished a shot behind and tied for 34th following a closing 73 - an excellent effort on a course where the average score for the 225 completed rounds was 79.23.
David Fonua was 50th on 241, Chris Hatch tied for 54th on 243, and Jack Kelly T71 on 252.
Meadlist was CSU Monterey Bay's Brandon Hortt who posted one-over 217 to win by five from fellow Otter Dylan Jackson.
