Western Washington University's Mark Strickland (right) won the 39th annual Bellingham Amateur at Lake Padden over the weekend, capping a superb summer of golf in which he also won the Everett Amateur and Riverbend Amateur. The junior from Mukilteo shot a closing four-under 68 yesterday to finish the 54-hole tournament on seven-under 209, one shot ahead of former Viking teammate Dylan Goodwin.
Strickland will be a vital part of the upcoming season for Western and will look to make a fast start by defending the individual title (the Vikings also won the team title) at the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club September 23-24.
