Blog 266, 6/21/13 - Rawitzer Finishes T6 at State Amateur Championship

mrawMatt Rawitzer (right) finished tied for sixth at the 87th Washington State Men's Amateur Championship yesterday, shooting a final round 77 for a 54-hole total of ten-over 226.
Venue Chambers Bay played long and tough as an off-shore breeze sent scores soaring (there were 37 rounds in the 80s, and two in the 90s, from 61 players) including that of eventual champion Cameron Peck who followed two opening 69s with a six-over-par 78 to complete the three rounds on even-par 216, five clear of Nicholaus Mandell and Ryan Earl who tied for second.
Bellingham's Kevin Stray also shot 78 and finished T17, while Kyle Schrader finished top Viking on 13-over 229 which was good for a tie for 13th. Jake Webb who had started the day tied for third fell into a tie for 20th following an 84.
