Blog 252, 3/27/13 - Vikings Win in California

mstricklandThe Western Washington men's team came from four strokes behind overnight leaders Chico State to win the Cal Baptist Invitational in Beaumont, Calif., yesterday shooting a three-under-par 285 which tied the low round of the tournament.
The Vikings' three-round total of two-under 862 on the Champions Course at Tukwet Canyon saw them finish four clear of Chico State in second, and 21 ahead of CSU-Monterey Bay in third.
Leading the team and finishing second in the individual standings was Mark Strickland (right) whose final round 71 gave him a 54-hole total of four-under 212.  A shot behind in a tie for third was Dylan Goodwin who shot his third consecutive one-under-par round. Evan Needham climbed 13 places on the leaderboard with a closing 70 - the second best round of the day - that put him in a tie for ninth, Kyle Schrader had a 73 to finish T14, and Jake Webb fell into a tie for 19th following a disappointing six-over 78.
Chico State's Will Flitcroft won the individual title on five-under 211.
