Matt Rawitzer finished tied for second in the 46th Pacific Coast Amateur at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort Friday, following a five-man playoff for the title. Rawitzer, a graduate of Squalicum High School and now a senior-to-be at Oregon State shot a three-over 75 in the final round on the resort's original Bandon Dunes course, completing the 72 holes on seven-over 291 and tieing with Boise, ID's Taeksoo Kim, Phoenix, AZ's Michael Anderson, La Canada, CA's Anton Arboleda, and Honolulu, HI's David Fink, Rawitzer's Beavers teammate and, like Rawitzer, a member of the PNGA team that won the Morse Cup on Wednesday. Fink won the playoff with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole.
Earlier in the day, Rawitzer reached the turn in the final round in level-par 36, but double-bogeyed the short 15th then bogeyed the short Par 4 16th to come home in 39. The Bellingham native had shot a one-over 71 on Bandon Trails in the third round and woke Friday in joint second place, three shots behind third-round leader Jarred Bossio. The University of Idaho senior collapsed to an 82 in the final round, however, dropping into a tie for 12th four shots out of the playoff.
