Blog 219, 7/5/12 - Rawitzer Fires 69 in Third Round at Sahalee

rawitzersahaleeBellingham's Matt Rawitzer (right) is once again proving how good a player he is, shooting a third round three-under 69 at the prestigious Sahalee Players Championship Thursday afternoon  to complete 54 holes on two-over 218 and tied for 18th with a round to go.
The Bellingham native and Oregon State golfer began the tournament with a three-over 75, but bounced back today with a morning 74 and that excellent afternoon 69 which could have been even better were it not for a disappointing bogey six at the Par 5 18th, his ninth hole of the day.
Rawitzer will head into the final round tomorrow 12 shots behind the leader Kevin Penner, a senior-to-be at UNLV. The Sammamish, WA-native shot a morning 66 Thursday and a third-round 69 to finish the day on 206, one ahead of UW's Chris Williams.
Seventeen-year-old Beau Hossler who figured so prominently at the US Open, tieing for the lead with Tiger Woods at one point in the second round before eventually finishing  T29, is in fifth place on four-under 212.

Chris Killmer shot a three-over 75 in today's first round of the Canadian Tour's Dakota Dunes Casino Open in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The former UW golfer and Bellingham native is tied for 116th, ten shots out of the lead held by Canada's Michael Gligic.
Killmer made a decent start to his second year on the Canadian Tour finishing T35 at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open in the second week of June, and T15 at the ATB Financial Classic two weeks later. Last week, he missed the cut at the Syncrude Boreal Open, however.
