Lake Padden's Matt Cowell finished tied for 31st at the 86th Washington Open Invitational Wednesday, shooting a two-over-par 73 around Glendale CC in Bellevue for a three-round total of ten-over 223. He was the only Bellingham-based pro to play all 54 holes, as Lake Padden's Luke Bennett and the Country Club's Mike Montgomery were outside the top 48 and ties that survived the cut for today's final round. (Montgomery was involved in the pro-am part of the tournament however, finishing 35th with amateur partner John Hulbert.)
Winning his second Washington Open title - the first 17 years ago - was Nationwide Tour player Jeff Gove who shot a second straight 65 for a winning total of 13-under 200 - 11 better than Corey Prugh, Jeff Coston and Tim Feenstra who tied for second. Recent Nationwide Tour winner Andres Gonzales finished tied for fifth on one-under 212.
