Blog 190, 3/8/12 - Gebhardt Shoots Third Straight 74

Gebhardt; five straight top-tens.
Jessi Gebhardt has played five events so far this year and finished in the top ten every time. Yesterday, the Bellingham native and former Oregon State University player, moved from an overnight tie for 12th at the sixth Cactus Tour event of the season into a tie for 10th with a third straight 74 that gave her a 54-hole total of six-over 222, eight back of winner Irene Cho.
On a tough day for scoring when the top 20 finishers averaged 75.9 and no one shot in the 60s (Joy Trotter, a product of the George Pinnell Golf Academy in Rowland Heights, Calif. got closest with a 70), Gebhardt's 74 represented another solid round, though she is certain what area of her game still needs attention.
"I know what I need to work on to get better…mental game," she said on her blog following the final round. "And I will do this by starting a journal about what I do well when I play well. I'm looking forward to improving this aspect of my game because I know it is the one thing holding me back."
Gebhardt will try to Monday qualify for next week's LPGA Tour event - the RR Donnelley Founders Cup - which will be played on the back nines of the Faldo and Palmer Courses at Wildfire GC that she played this week. Her knowledge of the course is bound to be an asset, so hopefully she'll be able to break the sequence of 74s and earn the opportunity to go up against the likes of Yani Tseng, Na Yeon Choi, and Suzann Pettersen - the top three female players in the world.
