Hard luck Jessi.
Jessi Gebhardt's dream of playing on the LPGA Tour full time will have to wait another year. The Bellingham native went into Sunday's final round of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL., tied for 38th but shot an eight-over-par 80 on the Champions Course she had fared well on earlier in the week to fall into a tie for 73rd, well outside the top 40 who earned status on next year's Tour.
Gebhardt completed the 90 holes on 16-over 376, seven shots behind the three-way tie for 39th. After starting out with a bogey, she made a string of pars before bogeying the 6th and 7th and making a double at the 9th. Out in 41, her chances of qualifying had all but disappeared, but she birdied the 10th to rekindle a flicker of hope. Instead of the birdies she needed, however, Gebhardt sadly limped home with four more bogeys for an inward 39.
23-year-old Junthima Gulyanamitta from Thailand won the tournament with a five-round total of 350, passing fourth-round leader Christine Song with a closing 68.
