Blog 178, 11/19/11 - Killmer's Brave 70 Not Enough

chriskillmersmilesDespite a sterling two-under-par 70 in today's final round of second stage PGA Tour qualifying at Bear Creek GC in Murrieta, Calif, Chris Killmer (right) finished outside the top 19 and ties and will not, therefore, be heading to PGA West for December's final stage.
The Bellingham resident, who finished 22nd on this year's Canadian Tour money list, completed the 72 holes on three-over 291 after rounds of 73, 71, 77 and 70, winding up in a tie for 33rd, five shots behind the six players that tied for 15th and who earned the final spots in the field for QSchool.
After starting his round poorly, making two bogeys in his first four holes, Killmer came back valiantly with birdies at the 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th. It was a great effort, but after his disappointing third-round 77, Killmer would have needed a 65 today in order to advance.
Third-round leader Daniel Summerhays shot a closing 76 but still finished three clear of former PGA Tour winners Jason Gore and David Duval on 12-under 276.
