Chris Killmer; tied for 34th after round one.
Bellingham's Chris Killmer shot a tidy one-over 73 in the first round of second stage PGA Tour qualifying at Bear Creek GC in Murrieta, Calif., yesterday and heads into today's second round tied for 34th in a field full of former PGA Tour players, a handful of PGA Tour winners, and even a former world number one and major champion - 2001 Open Championship winner David Duval.
The former University of Washington golfer got off to a poor start carding two bogeys in his first four holes, but got back on track with birdies at the 471-yard Par 4 5th and 351-yard 13th. Killmer then bogeyed the 210-yard 16th and finished with halves of 37 and 36 on the 7,067-yard course, one of six sites being used for the second stage. Daniel Summerhays leads after a first-round 65.
Only the top 19 and ties from Bear Creek will advance to the third and final stage to be played at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., from November 30th to December 5th.
