Bellingham's Chris Killmer is safely through to the second stage of PGA Tour qualifying after tieing for second in the first stage at Oak Valley GC in Beaumont, CA., (one of 13 first stage venues) yesterday. The former University of Washington golfer and three-time Bellingham Amateur Champion who this year played on the Canadian Tour, shot rounds of 69, 71, 68 and 69 to complete the 72 holes on 11-under-par 277, tied with California's Lucas Lee and two behind winner Lindsay Wilson of Canada.
Cruising on eight-under with nine holes to play, Killmer finished in style making six pars and three back-nine birdies in his final round. He will now play at one of the six second stage venues, most likely TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX., or Bear Creek in Murrieta Ca., November 15-18. The final stage will be played at PGA West in California from November 30th to December 5th.

Western's Dylan Goodwin has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for October 23-29 following his fourth-place finish at last week's CSU Monterey Bay Otter Classic at which the Vikings came back strongly from a disappointing first day with a final round 288 to record the team's first win of the season. Goodwin, who wins his second GNAC POW award of 2011-12 and sixth of his career, shot a closing 67 which was the best round of the tournament.
Lake Padden has released the schedule for its 2011-12 Winter Golf Tour. All dates are of course at the mercy of the weather, but you know Scott McBeath will have the course playable in anything less than a foot of snow:
