Phil Gaggero (right) was awarded the President's Plaque last week by his peers at the Western Washington Chapter of the Pacific Northwest PGA. The award recognizes an individual's leadership and mentoring skills which Gaggero demonstrated as Director of Instruction at Lake Padden (Phil is now the Head Professional at Shuksan GC) where he implemented several of the PGA's Play Golf America programs and led the facility's six PGA Professionals. To date, the Get Golf Ready program has helped 43 adults take up the game, the PGA Sports Academy which offers junior golf programs has had over 300 participants, the First Tee classes that started last fall have so far introduced the game to 81 kids, and the L'il Birdie/Big Eagle program attracted 44 particpants. Nice going Phil!

Salish Cliffs, the superb new Gene Bates designed course that opened last month (and which you really must make a point of visiting) has posted its fall rates. Public rates through Oct. 31 are $69 (Monday-Thursday) and $79 (Friday-Sunday) for 18 holes and $40 and $50, respectively, for nine, including green fees and cart (but not applicable tax).
