After fine performances at the Washington State Amateur Championship and PNGA Men's Amateur, and decent showings at the Southwest Amateur and Sahalee Players, Matt Rawitzer (right) has become one of the finest golfers in the state this summer. And his good form is continuing at the prestigious Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at Martis Camp in Truckee, CA., where rounds of 71 and 70 put him in a tie for fourth with two rounds to go. A three-birdie/six par front nine of 33 Wednesday morning, took Rawitzer to four-under for the tournament and just a shot out of the lead. Two birdies and three bogeys on his back nine (the course's front nine as he had started at the 10th) dropped him to three-under and two shots back of co-leaders Derek Ernst and Taylor Travis, and one back of Tim Madigan in third.
