The Vikings finished fourth out of 18 teams at the Western New Mexico University Invitational in Albuquerque today, shooting a final-round 20-over 308 for a three-round total of 64-over 928. As the scores suggest, the weather was the story of the last two days, the wind gusting up to 50mph at times. "It was a battle the entire time" said coach Steve Card. "The weather conditions made the course play very difficult. From tee to green, we played as well as anyone, but we struggled with the short game."
Leading the team was Sandy Vaughn who followed yesterday's 77 with rounds of 80 and 74 today. The sophomore from Seattle finished 13th on 15-over 231. Xavier Dailly was next, tieing for 20th on 234. Dylan Goodwin was tied 28th on 236, Nick Varelia tied for 34th on 238, and Brian Barhanovich was T50 on 242.
CSU-Monterey Bay won the tournament with a 50-over 914. Medalist on nine-over 225 was CSUMB's John Jackson.

The first Lake Padden Men's Club tournament of the 2011 season was a great success with 97 golfers playing in the 'Get Acquainted' event. Vince Crocker won the Div 1 Gross prize with a 71 and Cam Frick took the Net prize also with a 71. Results here.
The next event is the Four-Man Cha-Cha-Cha on Saturday April 2nd. It's a fun format (read the rules carefully!) and should attract a similarly good turn-out.

Joe Holdridge is holding another of his popular indoor golf tournaments at Joe's Professional Golf Lab and Indoor Golf Center on Hannegan Rd. The March Madness Tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links began on saturday but runs through Thursday March 31st. It's $20 entry fee ($5 optional skins game) and you can play by yourself or in a group. Allow one hour for a round. Call 752-3337 for a tee-time.
