Bellingham's Matt Cowley and Matt Rawitzer made it through 36-hole strokeplay qualifying at the PNGA Mens Amateur Championship at Royal Colwood in Victoria, BC yesterday and play their Round of 64 matches today. Cowley shot two 75s on the AV Macan-designed classic to tie for 37th, while Rawitzer posted 76, 75 to tie for 44th. James Hiester was looking good for the matchplay section after an opening 73, but an 84 yesterday took him below the cut line. Also missing out were Bryant Dhondt and Steven Rose.
Cowell, the 43rd seed will play Alberta's Shane O'Neill the #22 seed, and #45 Rawitzer goes up against #20 Craig Doell from Victoria.
