Well played boys
On Wednesday, just a week after winning the 2A district title at Skagit Golf & Country Club, the Bellingham High School boy's team won the WIAA State Championships, its first state title since 2004, at Apple Tree GC in Yakima. With 83 points, the Red Raiders beat Interlake by 14.5 points and Washougal by 15.5. James Hiester was the star, finishing tied for fourth with rounds of 71 and 75. Josh Crowe was 17th on 152 and Steven Rose tied for 18th a shot further back. 'Josh was the big surprise,' Coach James Everett told the Herald. 'He's been playing well all season, but today he hit 13 greens and 10 in a row at one point. He was dialed in.'
'With just three guys, we knew there was no margin for error,' Coach Everett added. 'The big thing for us was not to hold anything back. The guys knew they needed to get a little better and they did.'
